Maya’s New Husband is the story of Maya Bhargava, a schoolteacher from Mumbai, who falls in love with Bhaskar Sadachari. Her attraction for him defies all reason, for Bhaskar isn’t the usual charming or handsome guy. After a short whirlwind romance, they get married, and Maya tries to settle into her new life with her new husband. This is when her horrors begin.
Set against the backdrop of serial killings in Mumbai, the novel has themes of cannibalism and Indian Aghori ritualism. The book has been highly praised for Neil D’Silva’s unique writing style and the meticulous research into the core themes of the story. The character of Bhaskar Sadachari has been described as one of the most effective villains in contemporary Indian literature.

Maya’s New Husband is Neil D’Silva’s debut novel. The very next day of its release, Maya’s New Husband hit #1 on Amazon Hot New Releases in the horror category. It stayed on the top 10 of Amazon.in (horror) for close to two years, often hitting the #1 spot and thus attaining Amazon Bestseller status.
